Stati Uniti.Molte cose sono cambiate in questi anni, una su tutte la scomparsa
del CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit): dopo quanto accaduto nel Giorno 6 la struttura
è stata sciolta dal governo, che l\'ha inglobata nella NSA.Jack Bauer è a Washington:
è stato chiamato a testimoniare davanti ad una commissione del Senato, dove
deve rendere conto di alcune sue azioni passate per cui rischia di essere incriminato.
Durante il dibattimento in aula però Jack viene improvvisamente prelevato dall\'agente
dell\'FBI Renee Walker, che ne richiede l\'aiuto per affrontare quella che si profila come
una possibile crisi.Al suo arrivo negli uffici dell\'FBI Bauer si rende subito conto di quanto
sia critica la situazione per la sicurezza nazionale: Renee informa Jack che qualcuno
vuole violare il firewall del CIP (il sistema che protegge tutte le infrastrutture della
nazione); se così fosse, telecomunicazioni, trasporti e reti elettriche diventerebbero
vulnerabili, con esiti catastrofici per il paese e la sua popolazione.
